Fuel pump problem?
Hello all! New to the forum, as I do not have a Volvo. My father does, however and it's giving him all sorts of problems! I've been searching about it already, and can't find a thread with a how-to change the fuel pump (main or pre-pump) and sock. I know I should check the sock first, so we don't burn out the new pump, but I'm under the impression I have to drop the tank. Is this true? I've worked on many cars through the years, but never a Volvo. Anyways, the main problem is the car spuddering then stalling. I look into it and heard a noise coming from under the drivers side twards the rear of the vehicle. The next issue is the fuse that feeds the fuel pump became so hot, my dad touched it an actually burnt himself! Therefore, I'm pretty sure we need to change the fuel pump. Which one, though? I've heard of the prepump in the tank, a "main" pump, that may or may not be under the car, and an intake pump... Huh? I've never heard of 2 fuel pumps on a car before, and was hoping someone on here can help a new guy out.
Thanks,
Matt
Thanks,
Matt
