1986 240 DL wagon

Replaced:

in-tank fuel pump
fuel filter
fuel pump relay

problem:

3 days drove fine...better mpg.....but every time I would go over a bump, small or big, the fuel pump relay would make a clicking sound followed by no fuel delivery for about 3 to 5 seconds...after it would continue normal...WHAT THE HELLL...

I went out of a shopping mall and the curb where the water runs off was a little deep....click click went the fuel pump relay and I had to push all the way home...has not started since...

 

i found my own problem...

I did not tighten the positive cable on the battery....the smaller red cable that makes contact when you (not high) tighten the battery terminal connection....

Pretty lame...
Every time i would go over a bump the red cable would stop making contact and thus my fuel cut off....dam....three days loss of work....
