Fuel Tank Replacement - '88 245
Greetings
Have you ever felt really dumb? I feel that way right now. Having just bought my wife a 1988 240 wagon to replace the 1986 wagon that we loved but rusted out; I feel really dumb. I spent at least 15 minutes under the car before plopping down the cash, looking for the same issues that I had in the 86. Rust, rust and more rust.
Yesterday we filled up the gas tank and immediately began to smell gas. Looking under the car I found that there was a large amount of gas pouring out of the top of the tank....and then I realized that the tank was dented. Dented in a big way. The previous owner must've backed over something like a tree stump that was shorter than the bumper but big enough and solid enough to do a number on the gas tank.
Drove to our destination and used some gas and I haven't seen any additional leaks, however I am going to need to replace the tank.
Anyone do this before? I haven't found much searching the forums.....
Thanks for any help!

On my Volvo no, another car - yes. It isn't fun.
Its covered on Bentley page 230-12. Basically it says drain the gas, remove the clamping ring on the fill tube, unbolt the tank from below the car while supported by a jack, lower the tank.
