Default Gasoline Showers

So I'm fueling up my '90 740 wagon. I'm almost done and the pump should be stopping pretty soon when all of a sudden I get a gush of gasoline all over the side of my car and down my pant leg. This isn't the first time this has happened, but it doesn't happen all the time. I'm thinking it's some vacuum/pressure thing. Ijustwanted to hear some feedback before I continue.

Did the pump shut off?
If it did was it back splash?

Sounds like you will have to go through the Vent system on the tank.
It is kind of a pain to access all the hoses and check.

I am fighting the same problem on my Cutlass.

I will try to look and see if I can find a Diagram of the setup in my travels.

No problem! It's a wagon, so there's a hatch right behind the driver's side rear seat that gives me direct access to the sending unit. What would I be looking for, abad vent hose?

A pinched hose or a cut hose.

To get in on this discussion, my 89 240 wagon the pump tends to shut off very easily, can't squeeze the handle real tight, have to fuel it slowly. Pinched, clogged vent line also?? Dave
