I got a free 1989 240 dl wagon, however the car stals when your foot is taken off the gas. since i got this car for free i would like to spend as little as possible to fix.
any and all ideas would help me greatly. thank you!

 

Clean the throttle body and idle motor and see if it helps.
Also look for a big vaccum leak.

 

thanks for letting me know i jsut got word that the computer is the problem. so i guess i need a new computer, is that a lot of work? does it cost a lot? any info?

That should be what you need but you will need to see what #'s are on yours.

 

Get acquainted with your local wrecking yard. Computer should be $50-100...

 

yards around here are all real junk, i junked a 1992 golf about a year ago and it is still there. and they are very unfair with price. thanks though

 

looks good, thank you i will have to look into that. price doesnt seem to bad. got any idea how hard it would be to locate a manual trany and gear box? and how hard it would be to work on? i was thinking it wouldnt be to hard since these cars dont seem too impossible to work on.

 

Best thing to do is try to locate an entire parts car then strip what you want.
