Ok so now i got the shifting thing fixed, i went out early this morning like around 7:30am to go to the store. I got in my 89 740 turbo and started the car, went to the store and came back! then about 2 hours later i went back out and it would not start. It turns over and once and a while it will catch and sputter for a little then shut off and not start again! any thoughts???

 

Bad fuel pump relay or maybe fuel pump.

 

Ok i will check the relay first, but how do you know if it is bad??

 

Find it and open it up and inspect the solder joints.

Ok i took it out, here are some pics. The one side of the relay on the solder has like this gunky stuff on them is this a bad relay??

Look good and see if you see cracks around where the Wires/probes come through the circuit board.

 

Ok well its been a couple of days that i could get back on here! The relay turned out to be ok, i replaced the fuel filter instead and replaced the fuel lines. It started right up yaaaaaaay!!!! I just wanted to say thanks for all of the sugestions and help! This site RULE'S!!
