Default Harmonic Balancer Issues 740 pics

Is this common?
1992 Volvo 740 Wagon.

These are made in two parts. Luckily the important part is still firm with the crank.
Never saw or had this happend before. It did a nice job on the timing belt cover too!

It is fairly common on high mileage vehicles. The two pieces are held together by a rubber ring that breaks down over time. You'll need a new one.

A lot of folks will replace them at about 150k, and just consider it a maintainance item. I believe Groton has them for about $60, which is cheaper than the around $100 cost for a new three piece plastic timing cover set. Very nice pics, by the way!
