Have to wait to start my 740
My 1990 740 start and runs fine, but lately when I take it for a long trip, at least more than an hour, I turn it off, close it, and go. When I came back, and I'm going to turn it on, it won't start. I turn the key to "on", everything is fine, it has power, radio, windows, interior lights, horn, headligths, tailigths, etc. work fine, but when I turn the key to start, it doesn't make a sound, nothing happend. I have to wait an hour or two and then it start and I can continue. I think that there's a selenoid or relay that when it get hot doesn't give power to the starter, that's why (I think) I have to wait until the "whatever is" cool down. Any words on it will be helpfull. Thanks, Jorge
You might check the flywheel sensor (back of engine at firewall). I had some similar problems with my 1991 740. After changing this sensor, it has started flawlessly. Costs about $50 and you can do it yourself in about 10 minutes.
