Definitive headliner removal
Is there a post somewhere that has lots of details about removing the headliner in a 850 sedan. Matt's site had some post about the clips in the rear, but I'm looking for details about the maplights, and courtesy lights, and the grab handles...etc.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

It is very tough to remove the headliner in the Volvo sedans. Not getting off the ceiling, but getting it out of the car. Most guys had to remove the passenger seat to get it out. I tried to get it out without taking a seat out in my 940 and I ended up breaking the headliner shell. Just something to think about.

I removed the headliner from my 850 to have it re-covered. Snap the lights out of the map light assy. and there are 2 screws under them which hold it in. The grab handles have bolts under the little covers on each end. The sun visors are held in with 2 bolts. You have to cut the wires supplying power to the visors. It's best to do this part way down the "A" pillar for ease in re-splicing them back together. Remove the plastic trim pieces from each side of the "A" pillar. "B" pillar and "C" pillar and then over between the doors. There are a couple of clips at the back of the headliner that hold the rear up. Recline both front seats all the way back and flip the back seat back rests forward. Being very careful and you can work the liner out though the trunk without folding it. Having a helper helps.
