I'm new to the volvo world. I just bought a 1980 242 gt. The heater needs replacing. I have everything back together.
The question is where can you get the heater-core to heater valve hose (approx 30") and the firewall to heater core (approx 20").
The hose is cloth covered and the part #1215681 is on the hose. The # does cross to anything.
The original hose are not crack or broken down. do I reuse them or replace.
any help would be appreciated.

 

You can reuse them if they look serviceable, otherwise your auto parts store should be able to cut hoses to the length you need.

I have those parts already.
the hoses that connect to the top of the heater is what im looking for.
I can use 1/2 heater hose from napa but the quality is not as good as the wrapped Volvo hoses. Im going to use 1/2 silicone heater hose.
I never want to do this again.

wait, if you have the heater hoses already, what hoses are you missing?

there's 2 hoses between the engine and the firewall pipes, then there's 3 hoses inside from the pipes, to the heater valve, to the heater core, and hte return line from the core to the firewall pipes.

inside hoses:
1215682, from the top firewall pipe to the valve.
982201, from the valve to the heater core
982201, from the heater core back to the lower firewall pipe.

afaik, these hoses are the same for *ALL* 240's from 1975 to 1993.

no wait, there's another version without AC, where the controls has a fan **** on the far lower right, and 2 rows of 2 each horizontal skinny 'thumbwheels' that directly actuate cables for the air flow control and heat. this version uses inside hoses...

1214755 - upper firewall pipe to heater valve
1214757 - heater valve to lower heater core pipe
1214756 - upper heater core pipe to lower firewall pipe

these might be unobtanium and you'll need generic heater hose and bend to fit. this version of the ventilation/heater uses a different valve than I've seen before, too.

 

982201 is the # I was looking. some sites say its NLA some don't.

odd those two have the same PN as the picture shows them having considerably different set of bends, I wonder if thats just a generic hose, but usually volvo says 'by the foot'

oh. it says one is length 565mm and the other is 700mm, so yeah, its just generic hose of whatever diameter cut to length.
