Default rear end problems

I have a 1987 240 series wagon thats a 5 speed. I just started driving it and as soon as I actually step on it, the rear end starts to violently shake! So I put it up on jack stands and had a friend put it in gear and act like he was driving it so I could watch the differential. Where the drive line or drive shaft comes in to the differential it violently bucks up when given gas. There isnt any play with the u-joint, what could this be? Am I missing a mount of some kind or is my rear axel?

Most likely your rear U-Joint is binding. You'll need to drop it to check it. It's pretty straightforward. 4 bolts to drop the rear shaft. Just make sure you mark it so it goes back on the same as it is balanced with the front drive shaft.

There are 10 bushings to the whole rear end assembly. Most likely its one or more of these. I think it could be is the torque rod bushings , these are two long rods are attached to the axle and the car , when you give the car power these are suppose to keep your axle from rotating. You describe that the axle bucks up. Get under there and push up and down and keep an eye on your torque rod bushings, if your diff moves you should be able to see where there is play.

Check the whole driveline, drive shaft, flex disc, etc. If the flex disc is bad, any misalignment will cause vibration...

what kind of shape is the driveline center bearing and its rubber donut in? when those are shot, they can cause the driveline to buck.

The passengers side torque arm bushing was shot, just ordered a new one for each side! Hopefully this is the only problem! Thanks for your help
