Default here's how to remove the radio in a '91 940

I posted in a thread about the power antenna perplexing me and it finally got down to my needing to remove the radio to check out the connections behind it.

I must say that it scared me a little at first. So much plastic molding and all that plastic is brittle with age. Surprisingly, however, it's very easy to remove the radio.

First, remove both ***** by pulling them off their posts. Then, take a pair of pliers and remove both rings (left side is for LOUD, right side is for AM/FM selection).

Now if you look inside the holes you will see little clips on the outside of both radio posts where the ***** used to be. Take small flat tipped screwdrivers and stick one into each of those clips. If you spread out the screwdrivers you are pulling the clips toward the center and away from where they clip on each side of the radio.

Pull on the radio. Two other bendable clips on top of the radio may pull out the plastic trim above it, just under the controls for heat/AC. This is fine but don't let that trim get so much tension it breaks.

The radio should just pull right out of the dash. No screws, no bolts, no nothing. There's enough wire back there to pull the radio out far enough to work on it easily. When you are done, the radio just snaps right back into the dash and you can just push on the *****.
