Having a garage sale this weekend and put a few parts I replaced from my ‘76 245DL Volvo.
This jack has been in the back since my grandfather bought the car in 1976 (there’s also a scissor jack in the back).
I can’t wrap my head around it. It looks like it is upside down. The lift part hinges down, not offering any support to lift from the bumper. If you turn it over, the crank is on the ground, thus making it impossible to turn.
I believe that jack is for earlier models, not for the jackport pictured. Once the piece fits in the provided slot, it works fine--a lot of European cars of that era used this type, Mercedes had a hole where the piece fit. It seems counter intuitive but it works fine once you get it in there.
Just like shown in this picture - loop it over the bar and it works! Works on 140s, all 240s and who knows what else. Next picture is from a 1980, wagons used a scissors jack for some reason.
