Default Ignition system

I wonder if the 1990 Volvo 240 LH2.4 has a hall effect? I believe my no start issue is related to the distributor and planning to replace the pick up, rotor and cap.

Thanks,
Joe

All of my reference books say 'No'. The '90 model is fitted with the B230F engine which has the magnetic sensor on the flywheel.

Have you pulled any fault codes?

No fault codes other than the idle control being disconected. This car does not have a pick up in the distributor. I sprayed water again after replacing the cap and rotor. It killed the motor. The only thing that looks odd is that the spark plug wires boots are not snug against the cap. The wires though are tightly secure. Other words the boots are too large for the cap. Would this cause an issue?

Thanks,
Joe

Possibly.
If you spray a very small amount there when in a pretty dark area does it look like fireworks?
If so try to see where the spark is jumping from.
