Installing cargo/third row seat belts
Hi everyone,
I've recently acquired one of those third row (cargo area) seats for my 1988 745 Tic, along with the seat belts. Installing the foldable seat was a cinch and it looks and works great.
Installing the accompanying seat belts is a bit harder to figure out, though!
Does anyone have a any pictures of how these should be installed? The ones I have seem to have three mounting points each.
Thanks in advance!

I took them out of my former 92 740 wagon, but IIRC, the belt end was anchored on the wheel hump, the retractor was mounted below a slot in the wheel hump trim, and there was a triangular slider piece bolted up near the roof. the bolts for all this are hardened steel and torqued quite hard.

the stud for the belt end should be pretty obvious, if you sit in the seat, its right next to your waist/hip. ditto the slot that the retractor goes under.
its quite possible if your car didn't come with a rear seat originally, that these hard points simply don't exist.
oh. looked up the 88 740 in VADIS. its behind the C pillar trim, which also goes over the rear quadrant of the wheel hump. the slot is up near the top of the C pillar trim, the metal slider is BEHIND the trim, the retractor is bolted to the frame below the front of the rearmost side windows, and the end tab is bolted through the bottom of that trim piece.
actually, the drawing ALSO shows a lap belt configuration but without part numbers, suggesting this was never sold in the USA

ok, here's my 740 w/ the rear seatbelts removed.
you can see the 'stud' near the bottom of the wheel hump? thats where the belt end is attached. and, see the 'slot' on the plastic window sill trim? the retractor goes behind/below that piece of trim. the slider loop was bolted above the window sill as I originally suggested. (and good luck finding that dog/cargo gate I've got, that may have been the last new one in existence, i found it in 2011 on ebay in .UK, was NOS at a UK dealer)
