Interior fans stopped working and blow smoke

On a 240 there is a dropping resistor the reduces voltage for speed 1,2, 3. 4 th speed is full voltage - So if the fuse is good, and it does not work on any speed your fan motor is fried. (unless there is simply a melted connection) If it still works on speed 4 - your dropping resister melted.
It's a complex job - I would charge 6 hours to replace a fan motor, resister and switch. Hopefully those parts are still available.
