Default intermentent starting problem

1980 242. I have a high idle problem as well. Drove the car around for an hour or so, then got home, shut off. Went back out ab out an hour later and it won't start. Not the first time that has happened. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Simple . stuff...check the idle **** on the throttle body, also, the TB could be so dirty the plate is not fully closing. You have a vac solenoid on the firewall to idle up when a/c on...this could be energizing somehow. The hot start issue? See if you can check fuel pressures, could be the check valve on the fuel pump. The warm up regulator may have gone south. KJet is pretty bullet proof but after 25-35 years, stuff is failing that never failed in the first 10-15 years. Hopefully it's something simple. Keep in mind, KJet operates at very high fuel pressures, much higher than later LH cars or the earlier DJet. KJet pumps put out 100 psi and the motor needs to be operating at 70-75 psi.

Thanks. I was kind of wondering about the dirty plate. Not sure where the idle **** is, unless it is the black **** on the drivers side front under side of the body? If it is, it doesn't do any thing, so may need to take apart and do some cleaning. I need to get a Haynes or other manual for it. Thanks again.

Yup, that black **** is mounted to the throttle body and is an idle ****. There should be a rubber boot underneath that looks like a huge Hershey's Kiss...
