Default Internal transmission question -- 1991 740 T

I have a spring that fell from somewhere while working on the transmission kickdown cable and I am trying to determine where it belongs...

Here is a review of what has occurred.

The kickdown cable has become a big pain for me. I tried desperately with no luck to get the cable back into its position on the pulley or cam within the transmission. I had to break the plastic end part to get the old cable out, and doing so resulted in at least a couple of small plastic pieces falling into and becoming lost in the trans.

Having no luck getting the new cable on the pulley, and wanting to find the broken plastic pieces, I decided to take the metal "plate-like" part of the transmission down by removing about 18 or so bolts. It seemed apparent that this would make lining the cable onto the pulley a simple job.

With all the bolts removed, I gently supported the plate while lowering it simulataneously. As I removed it, a spring about an 1.5 inches fell from the plate and I was unable to see where it was positioned. Removing the plate was very straightforward, and I inventoried the bolts to make things easy going back on.

There are 2 pictures attached in which I have placed the spring in an area where I "hypothesized" it could have came from.

Anyone with knowledge of the innerds of the transmission please enlighten me as to where this spring belongs.

Thank you

The 2nd and 4th picture from the left are pictures of the transmission itself. Pictures 1, 3, and 5 are pictures of the plate which was removed.

All the broken plastic remnants of the old cable were found and removed.

Got the kickdown cable on properly but did not find out where the spring belonged. Called volvo transmission shops, regular transmission shops to no avail. So I put everything back and said to hell with the spring ahhahahahahaha.

Now the car runs great except it only goes forward no matter what gear it is in R N D 1 2. Oh me oh my.

I am thinking there has to be someone or some place out there who knows how I can get my hands on a diagram of the transmission internals.

This is the most confounding problem I have ever dealt with.

Here are some very thorough transmission diagrams sent to me today and hosted by the greenbook:
