IPD overdrive byplass plate installation tips?
Hey all,
I have bought an IPD bypass plate for the overdrive on my transmission. I am looking forward to installing it and finally getting my fourth gear back, however I wondered if anyone had any tips to ensure the process goes smoothly.
I am aware that the area around the solenoid should be cleaned thoroughly before removing it, and when the solenoid is removed - clean agan (can I use regular brake cleaner?) and make sure both O rings are off. Finally ensure that the bypass plate is oriented in the right direction and the right way up and fasten in place.
I read somewhere that while the solenoid is off, before installing the bypass plate, to run the car for two seconds to clear the channels of any debris. Won't the ATF make a mess and is this really a good idea? Can I clean the channel with maybe a bit of steel wire or will this damage something?
Thanks in advance!
