Jack styles question
Hi all
So in the trunk of the new car is a jack, but it does not look like a standard Volvo Screw Jack...It's a long metal bar (~2.5-3 ft) with notches which has a jack mechanism that climbs up the notches- if that is a good enough description...
I'll probably go scrounging for a real jack but I was wondering where this jack style would actually go on the car, seeing as it can't hook around the official jack points or for that matter get under the car?
Have a nice evening all!

I would pick up a Volvo screw jack at the nearest junk yard. But I wouldn't use it for anything except changing a tire. Actually I probably would call AAA first. I don't think my original Volvo jack has ever touched the ground, and I bought the car new. For mechanical work it's better to have a pair of jack stands, a pair of ramps, and a floor jack.
Yes I wasn't planning on using it for working on the car. Only putting on spares on the side of the road.
I have 2 scrapyards to try out this week, but we'll see how the weather holds- looks rainy- not my kind of wrenchin' weather...perhaps I will have to ask someone on the forums to see if they have a spare one laying around...
Incidentally I have used one of these types of jacks before to raise up a corner of my shed...and that was not really great- I have no idea where these come from but they're kinda scary, or if not that pretty useless.
