Default Junkyard visit; what to find? 1986 Volvo 240

Hi guys. I'm 15 and just got my first car: the 1986 Vovo 240. Before you say "you're too young for a car" or other stuff, please note that I got this car with my own saved up cash and I'm just trying to get humble opinions on some of my questions. I'm familiar with forums so please bare with me

I'm heading to the junkyard soon (my second visit) and was hoping to have something to look for.

I am hoping to find an intermediate way to get the Round lights for the 86 (I know the whole front end is different and have researched not enough for this.). Also looking for an old school steering wheel. That's about it.

Was hoping you guys can guide me through my first car and how to get it to my liking. Please forgive me for having yet another 240 question, but this car is def worth my time for my headlights to be perfect and everything to be pristine.

Regarding the steering wheel, how would I use a classic three spoke wheel and mount it on my Volvo? Have seen some removal guides on it, but don't know if I would be able to add a vintage wheel on it. Please forgive my lack of knowledge. Literally just got into it!

Hoping I get some replies, and I will definitely take some shots of the car !

Thanks everyone,
Don

If you want the single rounds you will at a minimum have to get the hood, radiator support, headlight buckets, headlight surrounds and grill from a car with single rounds '77-back. If dual rounds will do, then just the headlight buckets and surrounds. Don't know about the wheel. a lot of people get all the relays they can; main, overdrive etc.

Thanks for the response friend!
I will head to the junkyard tomorrow morning, but I need to get some things straight.

Thanks again for the reply, though. I appreciate it.

Which would be the easier way to save money, time, and an intermediate installation difficulty...the single round lights, or the dual round lights?

I was talking to a guy from Craigslist and he told me get the following:
-Lambda Sond old school Volvo grill
-Radiator Support
-Headlight assembly
-Headlight Buckets
-And if I had the extra cash PLUS time, a flathood+fender.

Are the parts you say will work easy to find, inexpensive, or anything of that sort?

thanks again!

PS
I am not in a rush to convert the whole thing. This guy from CL said that even though the front end would look weird without the flathood, having the radiator support would keep the lights and grill in good shape....True?

The dual rounds option would be a lot easier. The singles are great, but only with the correct surrounding components; by design.

I wouldn't mind the dual rounds, either at all lol.
So, fochs, can you list exactly what I would need to look for? It would really help a lot during this project.

And wouldn't a single round light be easier due to having less electrical and mounting problems? Just a thought

I just googled "volvo 240 headlight swap". These are some of what came up. There's a lot out there on these cars and a lot of people have documented what they have done. Look for it!! goodluck-

either single round or double round 240's are quite rare today, the odds of finding one in a random junkyard with an intact front end are between slim and none, and none is ahead by a mile.

Thank you again SOOOO much. I thought of every way to search for the headlight conversion, except "Headlight swap" haha. Thanks again! Really appreciated.

Thanks for the input, Pierce! I saw a couple at the JY, but it ended up being really messed up.
