Default Just picked up my new "Toy!" 1985 240...

I am psyched as I found a 240 on the local craigslist (long live CL) for just about nothing! Came with a box of receipts since 1985 and the owners also had a gas log. They logged every Oil change and fill up! I though I would beed to replace stuff on it but essentially every sensor and relay known to go out on these HAS BEEN REPLACED! I got it home and started to clean it up. I even did my first mod! What do you guys think? Can't go wrong with $500 bucks.....

Here's my first MOD to the 240!

I'm on CL every day from here to Jacksonville for a 240 or 940 and I never saw this gem, way to go! How many miles?

Is that three cigarette lighters next to the thermostat control? OEM? Did Volvo think the US were big smokers back in the 80's?

Man, You have no IDEA the crap the guy I bought this thing from put in it! He added the extra cig. lighters, made a 3rd brake light, added in the trunk 2 hooks for a cargo net and made "trip lights" and hung them by the A/C control! I took half that crap out yesterday after getting it, now I want to take out the "ghetto" brake light and just disinfett the car. There is a little funk of a smell so tomorrow will be dedicated to changing out the Fuel Filter and cleaning the car! The paint is on ok condition. It used to be Silver, but I guess he had it painted white. So I am going to wax the heck out of it since it looks like it hasn't been done in FOREVER and dye the black trim!

These cars look good with a bunch of rims.

Volans, Hydras, Vigors, Pegs, Gems...etc. BBS RS.

Cheapest decent looking wheel option is to pull off the trim from the steelies, paint them black, polish the outer trim ring, and pop that ring back on. leave the hubcaps off.

here's a decent pic of what that looks like: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...u/P3040012.jpg

Pull off the driver's side headlight surround and the grille. See that tube thing that runs from behind the lights to in front of the radiator? Pull it out. All that's doing is restricting airflow.

This will not only make your exhaust note sound better, but it gives you a bit more low-end grunt.

Welcome to the wonderful world of 240s.

edit\\ oh and 85s are pretty much the best year... last year for that headlight setup, first year for the B230. plus, EFI on a car this old is fun. People ask me all the time "Where's your carb?", probably because my car is ancient.

I have always driven FWD, so I am psyched on this RWD! Thanks for the info. I have an issue with an uncooperaive fuel filter but I will look into that tube for sure after I get this filter taken care of.

I think this is what I will be going after look wise!

Very sweet looking 240. I've always wanted to get a 240 wagon and mod it out to kick but on the street. The ultimate sleeper.

No, those are controls for the AC system.
- 1st one is to direct air to the floor.
- 2nd one puts air to the windshield.
- 3rd one is the recycle mode.

Ok, saw an 84 with Titans and I will admit it looks N I C E! Right now I just want it running. I think every day I drive into the garage , I shed a tear for the neglected 240,lol.... I have seen a few on wire wheels lowered about 1n inch and also looks good. I'm a little torn, so If you guys have Ideas and PICS, please post. I have no Idea where to go with this one. I was originally looking for a wagon, since I know what to do with that. My other Idea is to keep this for a little while and see if anyone would trade the sedan for a wagon OR seel this and pick up a wagon...... whom knows but for now I have the 240...
