Default Just totaled my like new 740

Well someone didnt see me and I smacked him. I doubt that they will fix it.My question is that I towed my boat with it and I loved it but would a newer Volvo have the same towing capacities and have the same economy?

In my opinion the new ones are not worth having. Stick with 240,740,940 or earlier

sorry to here that another great car has met with a premature end, you know the saying, the king is dead,
long live the king. hook your boat, trailer, house, and just about anything to a 2.3 lpt or hpt 940,preferabably a 94 to 98 model and you wont be dissapointed.alternatively you should consider an 850
or a v70 up to 1999. good luck. ps you should salvage parts from your 740 if possible.

The real sad thing is that I just put in both new headlights,6000k HID's,new fax-suede headliner, wheels and snow tires, etc, etc. Is the 6cyl ok or should I stick with the 2.3? Thanks for the feed back.

The 6 cylinder will last a long time to but the 2.3 is more reliable.

If you want the best of both worlds
Get a 1992 or 1993 960 they look like the 740 but have the 6 cylinder.
But you have to change the timing belt every 30k to 50k.

Will my 15" steel wheels and snow tires fit a 960?

They should fit but not 100% sure.

I know 960 wheels won't fit the 740 the rims hit the struts. The offset is a little different.
Which would make them stick out a hair on the 960.

The 740 gas milage is better than the 960.

The towing capacities should be the same or a little more for the 960.

Hey lotusing - If you salvage parts from your 740, I am looking for the spare donut, with or without wheel. Mine sort of disintegrated in the wheel housing. I have a 89 740 wagon with the 15" steel wheels so i could also take a full size for a spare although it wouldn't fit in the well.

Let me know, and about how much you would want for either. Thanks
