Default Lil help

Sorry guys, I know this is going to sound ignorant, but where is the fuel pump on a 87 volvo 240 Located? I have the opportunity to pick up a car at a decent price and have a 'left over' fuel pump from another car (94 - 850) and wonder if the fuel pump goes in the same place and would it fit...

Thanks,
Opportunity to fix a dead volvo for practically nothing...

The fuel pump is accessed from the trunk on the drives side. There is a square plate you will need to remove to get to the pump assembly.

Not sure if the 850 pump will work but you can try.

Damn Tech, You are everywhere :-)

Do you know if the fuel pump relay is the same 103 and where is it located on a 240? I have a chance to pick up an 87 240 that the guy says needs a fuel pump for $500, but I will get him to $250...and I have a pump and relay ...if they fit...LOL

So on a 240 it is on the drivers side? I know on my 850 it is on the pass side...Where is the fuel pump relay located under the hood?

Remove the carpeted panel under the dash on the passenger side. It is usually mounted on a bracket on the firewall. It is white and looks kind of like a double wide relay. Sometimes if the relay is bad you can resolder it and be fine.

The relay is under the carpet on the passenger side. Two pumps - one in the tank, the other forward of the driver's rear tire.

Thanks for catching that I totally missed that I wrote the wrong side. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that. I guess my fingers were typing before my mind finished the thought!! LOL

I will edit it as well.
