Default A loaded question....

So... Don't take this wrong or be offended...

I am looking for a GREAT forum for technical DIY questions. Is this the place or can other users recommend other Volvo forums I should check out.

I have had Volvo's in the past and have just picked up a 90 Dl with ~ 150k mi in pretty good shape. It has some issues and I am ready to fix em and have a good driver.

I will also do some searches and ask some questions.

Thanks and I look forward to getting to know the site.

I like this forum a lot--it is my primary reference. But I also use turbobricks from time to time. The search is decent and there is lots of knowledge in this forum.

Welcome to the forum,

I also have a 1990 245.

I use two other forums in addition to this one.

The Volvo Resource: brickboard.com

TurboBricks | High Performance Volvo Club

All three have non-DIYers that contribute, by that I mean pros that bring and share their years of experience with us backyard wrench pullers, as well as the members that have had Volvos for decades and contribute greatly. For me and others, if it wasn't for these forums it would make keeping these vintage cars running really difficult.

Get a Volvo 240 Service Manual from Bentley Publishing it is well worth the money, not only for the how to replace something, but how it works.

Research the FAQs on forums before a big project, it is well worth the effort, Don't ask how I know this.

The 200 series Volvo are great cars, I am pretty sure the engineers at Volvo did not expect this kind of service life from them.

Good Luck

Fred

Thanks for the feedback and other sites to look at.

So far in my search I have found useful information on the problems i will be addressing with this car.

I agree with your comments that with out these sites, I could not keep the cars I have on the road or afford them (as the rates at shops these days is amazing).

This site has less traffic than the ones aforementioned like TB and such. Though you will get your questions answered here, they are generally the "OEM" way to do it. TB will generally answer your questions the same way, but the answers to your questions can vary Greatly. Of course, that's the point of a forum right? Ask the same question on a few forums, see all your answers and generally the most common answer will be the way to go, unless you ask 'how can I put a turbo on my 240?' on Turbo Bricks.
