Default looking for parts

hi all,

i'm fixing up the wife's car and am in need of some interior parts. it's a 92 240 sedan with camel/tan interior. what i'm looking for is:

1. front speaker grill part that fits between the outside grill and speaker. i think the outside grill part snaps to this piece which is screwed to the speaker.

2. center console

3. black glove box door with hinges (hinges are the part that is broken)

4. sunroof felt gasket (this is the seal that you can see from the top when it is closed.)

not sure how these parts can be had and any help would be greatly appreciated. my apologies for not know the lingo and where to look. i called a somewhat local volvo dealer and it seems some of these parts are hard to find.

thanks,

The wreck yard, junkyard, auto salvage yard, or whatever you want to call it is the best and cheapest source for most of what you mentioned. Particularly the kind where you pull the parts yourself.

the sunroof 'seal' isn't a gasket, and its not intended to be waterproof. its just a wind seal to cut down on the wind noise inside the car. there's a rain gutter built into the sunroof assembly that collects the rain that inevitably gets in there ad directs it down drain hoses which run down the A pillars in front, and the C pillars in back, and out little drain holes in the bottom of the car.

I'd think you could use strips of most any sort of weatherstripping felt kind of stuff, cut to the right size and glued to the rim of the sunroof.

as far as places to get new volvo parts... my short list is...

and here's the rest of the P/N's that are scrolled off that ...

I am not quite sure which of the seals or piping is the part you need, but I looked up #42, 43, and 44 at tasca, and they are all supposedly available from Volvo.... at like $40 each or something.

note these drawings are the same thing a dealerparts counter gets to work from, so unless they are real gurus, the parts guy won't know any more than what he can see here.

I totalled my 91 240 this morning. Hit 3 cows! I am ok, thanks to volvo's toughness. Mine is black interior, I might have the glovebox door you're looking for.

Good thing they tested 240's on Moose! When's the Bar-B-Que?
The sunroof seal is actually 2 pieces. The one you see covers 3 of the 4 sides, the other seal covers the rear edge and as mentioned, is only designed to stop large drops of water from spraying between the cracks. The seals are still available from Volvo but are not cheap. The front is nearly $60 and the rear $40. I know because I need them for the GT I'm working on. I have yet to locate a less expensive substitute.
I believe the o.e. door speakers used a frame for the speaker grill that was integral with the speaker. Perhaps they altered the design by 92. By console, I presume you mean the e-brake console. Here in Texas, they do not hold up well w/ the heat...get brittle and break. Rarely, they come up as NOS on eBay...typically $80-100. Buying even an unbroken one that has been in a car for 20 years is no guarantee it won't crack tomorrow.
