Looking at 2000 GLT. What should I be looking for?
A very close family friend has been trying to get me to buy a Volvo for 10 years now and now is the time that I am finally going to listen to him (maybe). He has a 870 w/ 189k milesand his wife has a 2000 S70 GLT. I drove hers and REALLY liked it so.
I did use the search feature for the last 5 mths and nothing really popped out at me re: the 2000. From what I could see the 99 & 00 timing belt needs to be done around 105k miles. How much is that repair? Is there any other issues I need to be aware of?
Lastly, does the S70 have the LATCH anchors in the back seats for child seats?
Thanks
Mike

I would run away from it.
The 2000 was an electrical nightmare, not to mention the ever infamous vehicle speed defects:
Throttle Body issues and Throttle Posistioning Sensors.

Yes, it is important to make sure that any Volvo has the timing belt kept close to new.
A new timing belt installed is a lot cheaper than the impending doom which would arrive the day it broke.
I think The LATCH anhors are there, although I never have used mine in either my 2000 Volvo or my 01 Pathfinder. (I know I know, I'm a horrible parent) (ok, not really, guys)
If you really like the S70, then you're best off with a 1998. Seems to be less issues there.

Thanks for the info. Funny thing you said about the 1998. There is a local one with 42k original miles on it. Literally the grandmother to the grocery store car. They want like $7800.00 for it. Unfortunately I can not buy a car until April-May when my lease is up or I would be down at that dealer this weekend. Only big downside is no cd player which I would get an aftermarket one. Hard to think someone would only get a tape deck but hey it was 1998.
