I am looking to purchase a 1994 940 wagon, automatic, non-turbo. It has 132,000 miles. When I took it for a test drive, I noticed that when I was stopped at the stop light, I heard a buzzing noise. It was almost like a humming noise. Sounded like it was coming from the dash were the air comes in or when I put my ear near the gear shift I could hear the noise. I first thought it was from the radio and turned it off. The air conditioning was off as well.

The seller will allow my mechanic to take a look at it, however, I was wondering if you had a quick diagnosis based on common occurences. Based on the mileage, what would be the next major repair to be expected. There is no maintence history as this car was inherited. I have a 1988 740 GLE and as I remember, after 100,000+ miles I had to replace two fuel tanks. Otherwise my volvo is still running well at 235,000 miles. The seller is willing to take $2800 and seems to be a great deal as I heard that the 940's are solid models.
