HAVE A 1992 240 WITH 139000, CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME GET BETTER THAN 19MPG HIGHWAY THIS IS CRAZY! DONE EVERYTHING AND THE DEALER SAYS IT RUNS FINE ..WHICH IS DOES AND DRIVES BEAUTIFUL. CHANGED EVERY FILTER AND FLUID I CAN WITH A TUNE UP....STILL PUZZLED HELP! ERIC

 

There's only so much more that you can do.Make sure that you don't have a brake dragging, air pressure is good in the tires, running premium fuel, clean air filter, no vacuum leaks, emergency brakes aren't dragging, ummmmm anyone else care to add anything? I'm running out of ideas.

 

I've got a 93 240 with only 110k and right now my fuel economy is bein killed by the fact that the overdrive doesnt work (a problem that 240s seemed to be cursed with). You wouldnt be having the same issue would ya? I need to get one of those overdrive bypass kits from IPD.

 

thanks for the advice guys...actually having a break job soon and will see if that is the problem. ineed brakes all the way around and have issues with the parking brake as well...overdrive works beautiful though, thank god. one more thing, pepole are saying that ethanol is affecting older cars??? is this true??

 

If the o2 sensor hasen't been changed it is time... As they get old they get sluggish and go rich. Kinda pricey but they quickly pay for themselves.
