Default my 240 stalls out of the blue

for seemingly no reason, my 240 wagon stalls out of the blue. The only thing coincidental between the incidents is that I was turning.
all of a sudden, the car lost power completely and stalled. It happened twice today, once while backing out of a parking space and once while taking a right turn. it restarts right away but it is very disconcerting. has anyone ever heard of such a thing? thanks for your help.

How many miles on your volvo? I have heard that this can be an indication of the main fuel pump going bad. My car with 237k is starting to do this very same thing. I am going to replace both pumps because nothing lasts forever and at 237k they don't owe me anything. Prepump 35$ main pump bosch 155$ Before you do this check the hose that runs from your fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold. If this hose cracks or falls off car will run poorly and stall, too. Let us know what you find. You can also search stalling on this site and you may get a few more ideas.
A failing fuel pump relay will also do this but usually you have to wait a while before you can restart. if this happens you can tap relay with your finger and if it restarts you have narrowed it down

It mounts by the top of the transmission. You will see a wire coming out of the bellhousing area. Follow it up to the firewall area.
If the outside sheilding is cracked it could very well be failing. It would be a good idea to replace if it is cracked.

Also the fuel pump relay has the date stamped on it if it is original replace. The average life for the relays is about 5-7 years,
