Default My new 240

I found this 1980 240 on kijiji for $900. It has 77xxx original miles, new paint (2 years old), new tires, all new glass, and the interior is in great shape. The previous owner swapped the old VW diesel engine out for a Ford 302 V8 from a 1988 Crown Victoria

lol yeah. From what my dad has told me about his 240, those weren't the most reliable engines.

Crazy. That is one crafty mechanic who can retrofit this engine into a 240.

Does anybody know where the choke switch or **** was for the original engine? I tried starting the car today and it just won't quite start and I can't find the switch for the electronic choke on the carb.

are we assuming this was a switch and not a manual choke one where you push pedal down and release slowly when cold to set choke ?

Needs dropped front springs.
Amazing how heavy teh diesel engines are.....
The V8 could have an electric or bimetal choke (automatic choke). To start, depress accelerator pedal halfway twice and turn key.

Regards, Andrew.
