Default Mystery Letters

Now that the top face of my block is all cleaned up and flat, I see there are letters stamped into the deck surface on the exhaust side of each cylinder bore.

On my engine they are (from #1): C D D E

What do they mean???????

That is info for which bearing are used on the crank.

The letters = thickness of the bearings.

I suspected as much, but what a strange place to put the letters! I can see it now:

"Hey Svwen, we gotta remove anudder head to see what crank bearings goes wit each bore"

Yes but you would have to have it removed to install a new piston.

Hello Atwell; THe letters are the engine bore size codes. Each piston is fitted to each bore. C = 96.00-96.01mm D=96.01-96.02 E=96.02-96.03 G=96.04-96.05
They also ave OD sizes for the overbores. One reason why these things last so long. Sounds like you got a good one with no G or OD codes.
