New 740 owner need info
Alright so i have an 89 volvo 740 turbo
the way i bought it is as followed
i have an 84 block with an 89 head stock cam and port
but i have a seperate head that was on the 84 with a WEB race cam
specs are here
valve lash intake: stock Exhaust: stock
Lift: intake .436 exhaust .436
Duration intake 220* exhaust 225*
Duration @ .050 intake 250* exhaust 255*
lobe center is 110* 110*
it also says intake opens at 15* before tdc
Exhaust is 57.5* before bdc
intake closes at 55* after bdc
and exhaust closes 17.5* after tdc
My questions are will it fit the 89 head and if so will it be able to help me get to the 350 horse mark i want
and what will i need to get to 350 horse in this motor

the 740 turbo was 160HP stock. to get to 350HP you're going to need to do a LOT of work, significantly increased fuel delivery (bigger fuel pumps, bigger injectors), significant increased boost pressure. valve timing is the least of your concerns. when you get above about 250HP, you'll start eating up transmissions and rear ends.
84 and 89 heads, cams, and blocks should be pretty much interchangable, as long as they are both B230FT ... turbos have beefier exhaust valves with sodium filled cooling, and lower compression. The best blocks for this sort of thing are the 1994/1995 B230FT from a 940 turbo, those have piston skirt cooling.
the folks on turbobricks are much more into this sort of thing. this forum is more about stock.

well what i was told was get a stock powerstroke turbo/ gt35
ford thunderbird 390cc injectors
head studs
a better intercooler
the cam
run a stand alone fuel pump
and a tune
and that would get me there
oh and a mass air from some new volvo cause its bigger i cant remember what
and does anyone build the auto trans?
