"New" dashboard for volvo 940.
Hi!
My speedometer has gone sick in my Volvo 940 from 1992 and my mechanic says I need to replace the dashboard. I'm in doubt about which is the correct one to buy.
I can only find used dashboards from 1995 or younger, and have heard that it does not fit my 1992 model. Do you guys have any thoughts on this?

It's not a 'dashboard' you seek but an instrument cluster, may be. It's unclear from your post what your trouble is but the instrument cluster is never 'bad' in need of replacement unless something really catastrophic has happened to it. As Jagtoes says the speedometer is likely what you need or may be the circuit board in the back of the cluster needs refloating. The 1991-92 speedos are notoriously bad in the 740/940 series.
