Default new here what should i be lookin for

Hello all im new to this forum and volvos in general. Im looking for a everyday driver that i can do some work on from time to time when im not working on my project car( a 66 mustang coupe),also one i can have a lot of fun in. Im not looking for anything thats gunna kill with its looks, jsut something thats got a bit of potential. So far ive been looking at a 87 740 turbo something in that range but if anyone has some advice were to start it would be very helpful.

a turbo? Thats fun enough! However you could do a few things that will make other drivers turn.

-Custom Paint job
-Body kit
-Nnew Performance Muffler (add some growl)
-Upgrade sound system
-Custom Air Intake

The options are endless.

nah im talkin bear bones like flat black paint, cutting the spings, and then upgrade the power if i need to but mostly i jsut wanna leave it be not invest to much money into it (maybe make some fat fender flares to i can put some cheap deep dishrims in it). But i was wondering with what car to start with. The more i look into it i think im gunna go with something like a late 80s early 90s 240. However if anyone has some "if i was to do it over again" tips on what car to start with or some conversions tips it would def help me get pointed in the right direction.

personaly i would go with a rarer 240 turbo...they are fun and with a few lil mods they haul butt. they are also a lil cheeper than newer 700 series volvos (mostly) its all about what you really are into...i would deff. stick with a turbo anything tho lol...nothing like the hiss of a turbo pulling away from the compition.

I do not know the difference between 1200 in cad dollars to american dollars. but I say a 240 turbo for a little over 1k is a deal. I live in Nyc and I only seen 2 240 in 2 yrs that I have had my 740 turbo.

i think the canadian dollar is worth 96 cents in exchange. there are plent of 240s in vancouver but finding a 2 door is hard i think there was a little over 17000 made in 84, last year of them too, and to find with with turbo and a 5 speed foronly 1500i think i might have some freek luck if everything checks out. I find out sunday when i go see the car
