new question abt running rough
In my previous post I described that my 89 240 was running rough....and that I pulled up the error code 121 for MAF sensor....I went to a friend who is a Volvo mechanic and he said that the MAF might be "going".He also told me to check the air filter because if it is dirty it might be causing the problem. So I went under the hood to check it out and I found that one of the clamp rings that hold the connection between the air box and the hose that goes into the MAF was Loose and was possibly creating a leak into the system. So now my question...Is it possible that this loose clamp caused the car to run rough and give an error code for the MAF???I have yet to actually test the MAF itself but its possible that it is ok and not in need of replacement???BTW the air filter is still pretty clean. As always all comments are greatly appreciated.
well, for starters, cant you just start the car and see if its better... but enough of being a smartass, if im remembering correctly, its the Mass Air Flow sensor, which if there is a leak, it could read something wrong, making the fuel too rich or too lean, whichever, would cause it to run rough so thightening it could in essence fix it
Well if u read my original post u would have known that the car was running good today before i found any loose connections ..smartass aside, thanks for confirming what i thought to be the case.A leak causing the car to run rough and set off an error code...only time will tell if this is truly the cause but for now it seems to be... would anyone else care to weigh in on this ????
Tech.. I went back under the hood and sure enough there was loose clamp on the hose between the MAF and the engine...so I have cleared all codes and will see how things go from there. Thanks for the input.......BNE
