NEWBIE - 1990 Volvo 245 driver's door handle
How do I disassemble the interior of a 1990 Volvo 245 driver's side door to access the door handle? I tried to open the door from the outside yesterday and the handle came loose in my hand [not off the door entirely] and i heard a bolt / screw drop into the door. I taped the handle in place and can open the door from the inside but i need to get into the door to replace the handle bolt / screw.
Thanks for helping a NEWBIE.

If you have manual windows, remove the screw from the window crank and remove it. Remove the plugs on door arm rest, they cover mounting screws. Remove plastic trim around inner door handle by pressing in on one side until it unclips. Unscrew the door lock ****. Use an old fork or trim tool and start at the bottem and gently pop the door clips loose. The arm rest at the top is a twist fit. After the arm rest screws are removed, the top piece comes out by rotating the arm rest until the tabs line up w/ the door cutout. Pull it out. Front and rear door handles are identical on same side. Front door handles, particularly the driver's, wear out faster. When I go to the jy, I only pull back door handles. When properly adjusted and not worn out, the door handle has little or no play when lifting up.

Thanks
Swift Justice,
I am sorry this followup has been so long in coming. Unfortunately, i was diagnosed with an illness that took me off my feet for a few months. However, i am mostly recovered and i disassembled the door using your guidance and was able to restore 95% of the functionality. I was able to find and reinstall the dropped screws. At first the door would not lock, but i straightened a rod that looked like it was bent and the door can now be locked with the key or with the door shut. I can not hold up on the outside handle, push down the lock, and shut the door to lock it, but that is not a problem.
Thank you for the guidance which allowed me to be successful.
best wishes.
