Default no brake lights!

hello,

i need some help. my brake lights have stopped working. the running lights still work but when i push the brake pedal nothing happens. is there a switch on the pedal or a relay somewhere? i checked the drivers side kick panel fuse already and it seemed ok. any help would be most appreciated! thanks! Sometimes that little button switch on the brake pedal will get stuck. Try moving that around, and if that does not help, take the fuse #7 off (if its a 240) and clean the fuse and the holder. If that does not work, go to the rear lights and jiggle the connections around and see if they work. might have to clean and secure those connections too. Don't forget to do some research and search this forum first. Something like this is wholly common and gets asked a lot.

In doing some research on similar issues, I found out that the white socket goes on the right (passenger) side brake light and the driver's side uses a black socket. Don't know if that helps.

What year is it? I thought brake lights were fuse 6. Do the running lights (tail lights) work? On my 83, I had to really clean the connections (fine grit sand paper) at the light bulb holder and bend the tabs a bit.

This is often caused by a bum bulb failure relay. The big round red thing.
On 240's above the driver knee bolster, on 700/900, on the fuse block.
They're cheap at the junk yard, pricey everywhere else.

its a 93 240 wagon and yes running lights and all other lights work just nothing when i step on the brakes, and ill check out the bulb failure relay. i was going to pick n pull to get the switch and see if that did something but ill pick up the relay as well. thanks a lot guys. hopefully i figure this out today but ill let you know. you know whats funny, i started using the running lights as brake lights during the day, and hand signals at night. its legal haha
