Nope nothing no power too pumps,I have a new 3rd relay on the way ,it will be the first new one these others are very used,Im thinking a loose wire ,I was thinking wires on the coil or a ground ,but I jumped the fuses number 4 too 6 it started and ran fine ,so i think that eliminated the ground ,possibility, could I leave the jumper wire in place and run it like that?I would hate too create another problem.this is my first volvo,I kinda like the machine ,Im actually just working on it for a friend ,but I may find me one Volvo.Irode Triumph motorcycles for 15 years ,let me rephrase that I was a Triumph mechanic for 15 years LOL,AND THEY TOO ARE JUST A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. Any help would be appreiated thankyou very much for replying,K.H.

It doesn't even do the 2 second prime when the key first turned on?
If you close the relay contacts does the pump kick on?

Hey just got back on that 240 DL,yes if I close the contact on one side of the relay a pump runs and runs dosent shut off ,then the other side of the relay just buzz,s when I close the contacts,Ive looked at alot of wires on this one,the pumps both run tested at the pumps if I jump them at the pumps and if I touch a wire from fuse 6 too 4 ,4 for some reason is getting no electric unless jumped, should I test the ignition coil for any reason,Im lost here but not giving up,how about the ignition swith ,Fuel injection box?,the car will run if I jump fuse 4 too 6,Help Im lost in a brick!

Does the car have a dist pick up or a speed sensor in the back of the engine?
If it has a speed sensor it might be bad.

The speed sensor if it has one it mounted on the back of the engine. It looks like it screws to the top of the bellhousing.
If it has a pickup in the Dist. there will be a plug going to the dist.

Thanks alot no theres nothing in the distributer I had that apart ,the cap off too look inside ,no wires anyway so,when I get back next week I shall look for the speed sensor?wow I really never would have thought it would have much too do with the power too the fuel pumps ,But you know much more than I do,so I will try too find one ,Is it called a speed sensor? or do parts suppliers call it by another name ,I keep finding this wheel sensor for anti lock brakes.

Most call it an engine speed sensor.
It also controls the injector pulse.

The relay should click when you first turn the key on.
Then should click again when cranking the car over.
