Oil in accordian hose
While trying to get at the A/C compressor to change some belts, I removed the MAFS and saw that there was some oil pooling inside the accordian hose that runs from the MAFS up to the intake. I'd say the amount looked to be about two or three spoonfuls. I looked it up on the interwebs, and saw one post on the Turbobricks forum a few people saying that it is normal. Maybe normal for a turbo? This never happened on my other Volvo (also a 1990 240DL). After the bushing & belt job I'm currently doing, I'll be cleaning the flame trap and the intake valve, but I worry that this may be the symptom of something more ominous. Do I have anything major to be concerned about?
My '90 240 would get a little oil in there. I'd just clean it out any time I had the accordion hose off. Never had any issues.
As long as your flame trap is clean and the oil separator box is not clogged you should be fine.
