Default oli coming out of dipstick and inder cap

have, an 89 volvo gl single mom pls help oil was comoing out of dipstick but wrapped a shop towel aroung in and put a small bungee cord on to prevent it from coming out now it is coming out from under cap where u fill it my guess is too much pressure somewhere what will cause this and how can it b fixed cheap i am a single mom limited $$ need this car to get to work replaced old cap which had acrack on the rubber ring on the inside but the new one is fine but is still leaking

You need to have the flame trap cleaned or replaced and most probably do the same to the oil separator. A Volvo mechanic should know what this is. It's not an expensive proposition but you must do it quickly as the problem will cause blown seals and that is costly.

What Lev says is absolutely on the money! The seal that usually blows is the cam seal on the back of the engine near the firewall. IPD sells a retainer for about 15 bucks which will prevent this because it is so catastrophic, but that's just insurance, not a solution. I replaced my flame trap on my '89 when I had the exact same problem as yours. Not only did that cure the problem, but I swear the car even ran better. BTW, the trap does not have to be completely plugged to cause this problem; about half the holes on mine were still open.

agreed with not need much to experience seals being blown. Cleaned my flame trap/separator and was surprised by both how little they were blocked. Replaced all the seals when changing timing belt...and NO leaks. Like you said, it "feels" like car is driving better.
