Default Overdrive Problems on my 244

Another small problem with my reliable '82 244 GL. Last month my overdrive started acting up. It seems like it has a mind of its own. It switches off and then back on again randomly while im driving. when it switches off i can't turn it back on by hitting the OD button because no matter how many times i hit it it does nothing. But the OD button works fine when the OD is operating normally. I suspect that there is just a relay or something else electrical that i need to replace. Does anyone know hwat it is and where it is? Thanks,
-Nick-

There is an overdrive relay located under the centre of the instrument panel.

Other possible causes:
1. Faulty overdrive solenoid.
2. Fault in the wiring between the switch and the solenoid.
3. Low oil level in the overdrive unit.
4. Blocked oil filter in the overdrive unit.

go on IPDUSA.COM and buy the overdrive overridekit. it would fix your problem though you wont be able to manually take it out of overdrive.

I'm gona start by checking the relay because its cheap and easy if that doesn't fix it then i'll check the solenoid. Thanks for the tips guys.

The relay was the problem. It was a quick fix i didn't even need a new relay i just took a soldering iron and some solder to the connections on the back of the old one and now it works like a charm!
