Default Overdrive Relay - Replace?

I finally found the overdrive relay!

I took the glovebox out, and it wasn't there...just about the time that the Volvo Forums went down, and I couldn't figure out how to get the lower part of the dash/console out to find it. Anyway, the Haynes manual has much better instruction than Bentley on radio removal, and I finally got it out. Well, the relay had fallen underneath the front vents, and it looked like it might not have been all the way plugged in, so I can check it when I get the car running again. But here's the weird part...I can click the overdrive button and the O/D Off light comes on, but sometimes it won't click back. I tried a bit of "percussive maintenance" and when I smacked the relay, the O/D Off light switched off. Is this a bad relay, or a failing relay, and a bad solenoid? I plan to convert it to a manual, but if I can have fourth gear in the meantime, that'd be dandy.

Default RE: Overdrive Relay - Replace?

dude just get a bypass plate or cut a groove between the holes on the switch. use a dremel. plate costs 40 bucks from ipd or free if you have the tools.
