Default Passenger wiper does not move

We have a 1986 240. The drivers side windshield wiper works fine, however, the passenger side wiper does not move at all. Any suggestions on what the cause could be? I saw other posts that suggested the motor, but I assume that both wipers were not working.
Thanks for any suggestions.

By 86, the wiper arms were held on with a nut. Have you tried removing the wiper arm to see if the stub itself is turning? If it does, the wiper arm splines where it mounts to the shaft may be stripped meaning a new arm may fix it. If the sstub does not turn either then your wiper mechanism inside is fubar...not a joyous thing to replace as it is mounted directly to the inside of the firewall behind...everything.

Thanks- we have not tried that, but will. Sounds like almost everything in this car is tucked behind something!! Runs solid though.

Thanks again.

Well, if you decide to do the heater motor replacement you're right there to the wiper mechanism. But, it may very well be just a stripped wiper arm.

have you tried tightening the nut?

I'm not trying to insult your intellegence on this, just sometimes we jump past the simple and obvious in our thought process... I once spent 4 hours tracking down an electrical problem on a customer's car(that was known for electrical gremlins), only to have forgotten to check for the blown fuse first....

No insult taken- I tend to overlook the simple quite often!! Got the wiper to work, now to tackle the heater blower. Don't think that this is going to be as simple.

Thanks for the suggestions.
