Default Please Help! Engine Noise...

My friend has a 1991 240 4 cylinder wagon. There is a noise coming the engine. When i took a look its seems a (baseplate?) is loose. When you pop the hood and look at the motor its the bottom right pulley/gear(whatever its called) that seems to be making the noise. It periodically(for a few seconds every 10 seconds starts spinning and making noise then stops). I looked online at the motor layout and think it is a baseplate for the oil pump. Can someone let me know if this sounds correct. I know nothing about Volvo's and figured this is the place to come.

Please let me know what parts this is and how to fix it myself if its a easy fix. I'm assuming it is as simple as tightening a bolt that is loose but not sure yet.
Thanks in advance,

Brian

The bottom left (right, as viewed from the front of the engine) pulley is the air conditioner compressor. Do you think that's it?

Number 5 pulley in the drawing.

This is the one(the arrow is pointing at it)... the front plate spins for a few seconds then stops.

Is this normal? Is there something i can do to fix this? It doesnt seem like it should be doing this as it wasn't making the noise prior. Any ideas?

AC cycling is normal, but....
Inspect the bushing holding the bracket...they could be bad causing the extra nosie?

Also it appears the A/C doesn't work. This may shed more light on the problem.

It may be cycling due to being low on freon.

Thanks for everyone's help. It turned out that since the a/c doesn't work and she had the a/c on, without knowing it, the car was making that funny noise. Guess there really was no problem after all.
