Possible death of a B21
Hello all,
my girlfriend bought a 78' 244DL with a blown headgasket, when i pulled it apart i found the head was cracked. tracked down a new head, swapped the cam and any other little parts and bolted it back together, flushed the oil twice and called it good. simple enough right? that was 3 days ago and it has done about 200 miles with the new cylinder head without issue except for a slight miss at idle.
however (dun dun dun)
i went to drain the oil and replace it with something a little thicker today, and what came out was very shiny... which was a very unpleasant surprise.
the only idea i have, is that when i swapped the cam i did not swap the buckets on the lifters, i used the ones that came with the new head because the old ones looked like hammered ****. now i have a hunch im watching the camshaft drain out of the bottom of the motor
if anyone has any ideas or something i missed (or maybe leads on another B21 for sale) please let me know. looking forward to driving it home wigging out about every possible knock

And to say something about cams - never saw a worn cam in a b21/23/230, some ugly valve shims, but no cams. (many in the v-6 of that vintage however)
