Default Possible to put power windows in manual 88 245?

hi all,
i was at the jy today and found a really nice 92 245 volvo with an interior the same color as mine and had power windows. i decided to get the two front power windows switches and motors in case it is possible to retro-fit on my 88 245. anyone with experience doing this? are the ports that the switches plug into present in the 88 245?

All I can say is, have fun with that project! Power Windows are all the woes I don't need to worry about on my Volvo. Thankfully the only problems have been dirty window switches.

I did this on my 89 245 and am doing it on my GT as well. There is no wiring present...you must remove the entire harness from the donor car. It is 2 pieces. One runs from side to side in the front and to the fuse block. The other runs back into both B pillars and to the rear doors. The relay is directly behind the two center a/c vents. To do a first rate job, you would need all 4 door cards from a power window car to cover the hole left by the missing window cranks. Also, remove the blue and red star plastic mounts that the door pulls mount to as the power door pulls use an additional screw and mount.
Keep in mind, window motors are the same front to back. It's a great time to swap them as the rear motors typically have much less use...particularly the left rear.

thanks for the tip...i guess i should have rotated the motors, i already installed the front ones and they work fine, but switching them would be a good idea...i think it would involve some splicing, right? since the respective harnesses goes directly into the motors?

i decided not to take the rear door panels because the speaker are in a different place than mine and there is that little one i don't have...i guess i could have taken the speakers too...haven't looked too much into if/how newer style speakers would hook up.

and i broke the interior door handle cups, amazing how volvo plastic acts so much like brittle glass.:\

ok switched driver's motors by exchanging where the motors plugs into the switches with the back left motor...the drivers side goes up fast then slower in the middle then fast again...this occurred with both motors...this means it's a problem with the regulator, right?

Not necessarily. When installing the regulators, I like to keep the 4 mounting bolts a bit loose and then run it up. This allows it to find its own way up the window channel. Yours may just be binding.

Guess I wasn't clear...loosen the bolts, run it up and down a few times and then retighten after it has "adjusted" itself. FYI, the mounting bolts on the power window regs need to be checked occasionaly...they work loose easily.

Yup...Sweden's donation to keeping the US gene pool polluted, i.e., to keep children from flying out!

so the power windows connected to fuses 10 (designated for power windows) and 12 (power window relay) on the 92 245, and i hooked them up to 10 and 12 on mine and they seemed to work fine, but i realized that fuse 10 has no wires going into it. so to wire it, does it just come off the ignition switch?

nvm, i figured it out...fuse 10 comes from a brown wire going to the junction box near the battery on the 92...it's empty on my junc. box so will just have to take a wire and plug it in...

the 740's rear windows go a fair amount farther down than the 240s'. my 855 is really bad, they hardly go down 1/2 way. the benz 300E we just got goes all the way down, wow! I think my old type II Jetta did too.
