Post 86 240 headlamp swap
Hey guys I was thinking about how hard it is to swap pre 86 headlights into a post 86 240 but then I thought it might be easier to get quad squares from an early 740 and see if those would fit easier with no messing around with fenders and mounts and such. The only thing I don't know is the dimensions difference of the 740 and 240 headlights and the differences in mounting the headlights. Just thought I'd see if anyone on here had any ideas if that would work/be easier since I've never heard of it done before.
yes I agree but I was wondering since they are smaller if it would be easier to swap headlights from an 85 740 into a 87 240 instead of a pre 86 240
they are a different shape with a different mounting plate. they'd look like crap on a 240.
wait, 85 740?
those are damn rare these days as they were ecojunk era, and the biodegradable harnesses caused most of them to be scrapped decades ago.
anyaways, again, completely different headlight and front end shape, the moutning plates won't mount on the same bolt centers or anything. they'll also require different headlight wiring as both lights are on for high beams but only the outer for low. and the turn signals won't fit either.

you know, you can get Depo brand replacements for the volvo 240 'tv panel' big headlights quite inexpensively on ebay. they are an exact fit, and they are made of better plastic than the originals so they won't yellow in 5-10 years. that is what is on the white 240 in my post above.
