Default Potential dumb question re: high beams

Could somebody tell me for certain, if all 4 headlight should be on, when in high beam mode, on a 1988 740 GLE?

Thank you Jagtoes. I picked up some aftermarket halogens, and they were inducing feedback into the electrical system. The manufacturer instructed me to switch around the ground and low beam leads on the connectors, to correct the problem. I just could not remember if all 4 lights came on at once while in high beam mode.

halogens are just conventional lightbulbs, I fail to see how these could 'induce feedback into the electrical system'.

Pierce, I am no expert in dc theory, I am just repeating what the manufacturer told me. The following is some text from the description of the headlight assemblies I purchased:

THESE ARE HALOGEN SEMI-SEALED BEAM GLASS FACED HEADLIGHTS, NOT PLASTIC!!!
THIS LISTING IS FOR A SET OF 4 NEW 4" x 6" CRYSTAL CLEAR HALOGEN HEADLIGHT BULBS. THIS SET INCLUDES 2 HIGH BEAM & 2 HIGH / LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WITH CLEAR BULBS 60W/55W (NO WIRING MODIFICATION NEEDED). THESE HAVE THE ORIGINAL SHAPED PRONGS ON THE BACK SO THEY WILL PLUG RIGHT INTO YOUR ORIGINAL WIRING HARNESS PLUGS. THESE LIGHT UP 40% BRIGHTER THEN THE STOCK STYLE INCANDESCENT BULBS. THESE ARE FOR ANY CAR OR TRUCK THAT HAS 4 SQUARE 4x6" HEADLIGHTS.

After I installed these into my car, and turned on the headlights, the low beams would come on, and the high beams would have a very slight glow. When the voltage was measured to the headlight connector, it read 10 volts, without the car running. When the old headlights were reinstalled, everything was fine. When I called the manufacturer and told him of the problem, his words were that there was a feedback issue, and to switch the ground with the low beam wire. I did this and everything works fine, with the proper voltage being read at the connector.

oh, ok. you probably had the two filaments in series, that could do funky stuff like you describe.
