so i took some nice power heated mirrors from a junked 93 a while ago and installed them in my car, only problem is they always activate even when the car is off and key isn't in ignition (they could move from the controls in the center console). I tried plugging them into fuse 6 and 10, even put them where i had the switched power windows and the mirrors still work.

Me, I would use a volt meter to figure out what's going on.

but, fuses 6-10 are not switched, they are always on, direct off the battery.

on your 1988, fuses 1,2,3,5,11,12,13 are switched in I (accessory) and II (run), one of those is probably what you want to use.

on the wiring diagram for a 1993, it looks like they were on fuse 5, which is powered on II (run) and III (start), and the control switches are mounted on the front edge of the handbrake bezel. fuse 5 is shared with the turn signals on the 93. an 88 fuse 5 runs... um... part of the headlight switch?!?

use a volt meter to see if fuse 5 is in fact switched with your engine, and if so, its probably OK to use here. otherwise, I think I'd use fuse 2, which is the horn and windshield wipers (you're not likely to be adjusting your mirrors while using the horn, are you?). ok, maybe fuse 1, which is the cigar lighter and tailgate washer on a wagon ?


edit: oh, the fuse for the power windows didn't do it, because the windows are on a relay whihc is activated when fuse 12 is on (car in II). wow, these diagrams are inconsistent, some pages show fuses 5,11,12,13 are on the ignition switch pin 15 which is on in II,III, and other drawings show it on ignition switch pin X ... sigh.
